“Celebrating
Mass with the Holy Father was a great joy.
I cocelebrated the mass with priests and a bishop.
The Holy Spirit allowed me to be in the front row during
the mass and I could not take my eyes off our dear Pope Francis.
He was a quiet, gentle presence and became so alive
during the homily.
When I met Pope Francis face to face I can only describe
the meeting as joy meeting joy.
I asked him to bless me so I could be more converted to the
gospel and therefore share Jesus with more people.
I also asked him to bless my bible so I would see the word of
God as my bread.
He said “good” and spoke a deep prayer for me in Italian.
He then looked me in the eyes and said “you must pray for
me.”
I was deeply moved.
It touched me because it was a brother to a brother
moment.
I now feel so close to Pope Francis and will have this
memory in my heart for the rest of my priesthood.
