A catholic bible study

Suggestions for a good bible study
Read over the study and become familiar with its contents.
Answer the questions yourself if you are to be the leader
Find the scriptures in your bible so you are familiar with where the verses are.
Pray for guidance from the Holy Spirit to begin a bible study in your parish.
Principles of the bible study:
*A bible study is not a theological discussion group, there are not experts that have all the answers. A bible study group is for spiritual growth and no matter who you are you can share from your life.
*A bible group show be a place for anyone to feel comfortable about sharing and not a place for arguments or heated discussions.  If a problem arises simply suggest that the discussion would be better outside the group and return to your focus.
*A bible study group is not  place to make your point or try and change the life of another. Everyone is there to  hear and share on Gods word and everyone can find a place of conversion and encouragement.

Make a concrete plan: 1) choose a day of the week most convenient for people. It maybe convenient to begin a bible study after Sunday mass.   Or maybe another evening or day time. You could have a bible study for moms with kids during the day. You could have a bible study for teens. You could have a bible study for adults  on a Saturday or Friday night.
2)Choose a season of the year ie Lent or Advent or summer time and announce a beginning  and when the bible study will end.  You might want to do a  4 week bible study and choose from the contents four interesting topics. You might want  to do a bible study and  just do each lesson one after another. The important part is to choose and beginning and when the bible study will end.
3)Invite a group to gather for an hour or an hour and a half bible study.  Maybe have tea and some sweets to show hospitality to each other. Have one person each week responsible for bringing these to the bible study.
4)Simple format a)Begin with welcome a song and a prayer to the Holy Spirit or the Blessed Mother or simple the Our Father to guide the bible study.
                               b) Have bibles and other material ready to use and begin to read the verses of the scripture.  Have different people read from the bible so all can participate.
                               c) answer the discussion questions together.  Be sure as a leader you don’t dominate. Allow for time for as many to answer the questions as possible.  Some people take time to think about a question so allow for some quiet time for people to answer the questions. Some people think better if they write down their answer so have pen and paper available for all. Let people speak even if they might go off topic alittle.  If one person goes off topic too much simply remind the person of the question. If there are not or little discussions on one questions go to the next. Do be in a hurry though to answer all the questions if the discussion is good stay with the discussion.  Notice the time and make sure you stay to the  the time assigned and when it is 10 minutes to the end make mention that we have 10 minutes to finish our discussion.
Note: Some people find it easy to talk publicly others find it difficult. The object of bible sharing is for all to feel like they are included. Allow for time for all to share it they want but no one is required to share all the time.  Ask for reactions from those who are more silent to encourage their sharing. Ask others who might speak more to help others but simply asking questions for others to answer.
d)end with pray tanking God what you shared and learned  and ask if there are any needs we could pray for . Simple pray these prayers for each other.  Ask the group to pray for each other during the week and come next week with any ways the bible study has affected their daily life.
                                e) Invite others to attend the bible study if they are interested. Always have an open group ready to welcome new members.

INTRODUCTION
God wants everyone to come to know and love Him. The Scriptures reveal a great deal about Our Lord—His plan for our salvation, details about His character, and what He expects of those who wish to follow Him. In other words, God’s Word is a glimpse into the mind of our Creator!
This Bible study was written with consideration for the problems and challenges we face today. Because the Bible is inspired by God, and therefore timeless, it is as relevant today as the day it was written, and the principles apply to our modern age.
Hopefully, after completing this study, the students will not only be more familiar with the Scriptures and will have learned the importance of applying them to their daily lives, but will also see the need to begin a closer, more personal walk with the One who gave His life that we might have the hope of eternal life
LESSON ONE
WHO DO YOU SAY THAT I AM?
In order to love someone, we must first get to know him or her. The Scriptures tell us who God is and how He thinks. Jesus wants to be the most important person in your life. It is natural to want to spend time with those we love. The following study will help you determine where God fits in your life.
READ
1.  Who did some people think Jesus was while He was on earth? (Matthew 16: 13–14)
Matei 16:13 “Si venind Iisus in partile Cezareii lui Filip, ii intreba pe ucenicii Sai, zicand : Cine zic oamenii cã sunt Eu, Fiul Omului ?”. / When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Matei 16:14 “Iar ei au raspuns : Unii, Ioan Botezatorul, altii Ilie, altii Ieremia sau unul dintre prooroci”. / And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
2.  What did Peter say he believed about Jesus? (Matthew 16:16)
Matei 16:16 “Raspunzand Simon Petru a zis : Tu esti Hristosul, Fiul lui Dumnezeu Celui viu. » / And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
3.  Who revealed to Peter the identity of Jesus? (Matthew 16:17)
Matei 16:17 “Iar Iisus, raspunzand, i-a zis : Fericit esti Simone, fiul lui Iona, cã nu trup si sange ti-au descoperit tie aceasta, ci Tatal Meu, Cel din ceruri.” / And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
4.  To some, Jesus is no more than a historical figure. To others, He is truly “the way, the truth, and the life.” Look up the following Scriptures and write what Jesus wants to be to you.
John 3:16
Ioan 3:16 “Caci Dumnezeu asa a iubit lumea, incat pe Fiul Sãu Cel Unul-Nascut L-a dat ca oricine crede in El sa nu piarã, ci sa aiba viatã vesnicã”. /  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 10:11
Ioan 10:11 “Eu sunt pãstorul cel bun. Pãstorul cel bun isi pune sufletul pentru oile sale”. / I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
John 13:15
Ioan 13:15 “Cã v-am dat vouã pildã, ca, precum v-am facut Eu vouã, sa faceti si voi.“ / For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
J John 14:14
Ioan 14:14 “Daca veti cere ceva in numele Meu, Eu voi face.” / If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 15:5
Ioan 15:5 “Eu sunt vita, voi sunteti mlãditele. Cel ce ramane in Mine si Eu in el, acela aduce roadã multã, caci fara Mine nu puteti face nimic.” / I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
John 15:13–17
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Ioan 15:14 “Voi sunteti prietenii Mei, daca faceti ceea ce vã poruncesc.” / Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
Ioan 15:16 “Nu voi M-ati ales pe Mine, ci Eu v-am ales pe voi si v-am rânduit sa mergeti si roadã sa aduceti, si roada voastrã sa ramana, ca Tatal sa va dea orice-i veti cere in numele Meu.” / Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
Ioan 15:17 “Aceasta vã poruncesc : sa va iubiti unul pe altul.” / These things I command you, that ye love one another.
5.  Many times we say we love Jesus, but our actions do not reflect this. What do you think it means to give God “lip service?” (Isaiah 29:13)
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
6.  How can we prove our love for Jesus? (John 14:15)
Ioan 14:15 “De Mã iubiti, pãziti poruncile Mele.” / If ye love me, keep my commandments.
REFLECT
1.  Write a few sentences describing your relationship with Jesus.
2.  On a scale of 1 to 10, what place does He have in your life at this time? Explain.
RESPOND
1.  Set a time aside each day for prayer. Pick a quiet place and try to make this a priority in your daily schedule.
2.  Go to daily Mass whenever possible. Mass is the perfect prayer, and we should try to go beyond our Sunday obligation.
3.  Try to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation once a month John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me
Memory Scripture John 14;15 if you love me you will keep my commandments
LESSON TWO
THE AMAZING CHARACTER OF GOD
When we meditate on the Scriptures, we get a glimpse into the heart and mind of God. The Bible tells us that if we seek God, we will find Him. As you give thought to the next study, consider the awesome character of the Creator of the Universe!
READ
1.  God is love: How deep is God’s love for us? (Jeremiah 31:3)
Ieremia 31:3 “Atunci mi S-a arãtat Domnul din depãrtare si mi-a zis : “Cu iubire vesnicã te-am iubit si de aceea Mi-am întins spre tine bunãvointa.” / The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
2.  God is supreme: What does Psalm 95:3 say about God?
Psalmul 94:3 “Cã Dumnezeu mare este Domnul si Împãrat mare peste tot pãmântul.” / For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
3.  God is all-powerful: What were the Angel Gabriel’s words to Mary? (Luke 1:37)
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
4.  God knows everything: What does Hebrews 4:13 say about God’s knowledge?
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
5.  God is wise: What did Daniel say about God’s wisdom? (Daniel 2:20)
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
6.  God is everywhere: How did King David describe God’s omnipresence? (1 Kings 8:27)
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
7.  God is unchanging: In a world where things are constantly changing, what is one thing we can count on? (Malachi 3:6)
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
8.  God is faithful: What do we learn about God’s faithfulness in Deuteronomy 7:9
Deuteronomul 7:9 “Sa stii dar cã Domnul Dumnezeul tãu este adevãratul Dumnezeu, Dumnezeu credincios, Care pãzeste legãmântul Sãu si mila Sa, pânã la al miilea neam, cãtre cei ce-L iubesc si pãzesc poruncile Lui.” / Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
9.  God is holy: When we consider holy people what must we remember? (Revelations 15:4)
Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.
10.  God is just: What does God’s justice come against? (Romans 1:18)
Romani 1:18 “Cãci mânia lui Dumnezeu se descoperã din cer peste toatã fãrãdelegea si peste toatã nedreptatea oamenilor care tin nedreptatea drept adevãr.” / For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
REFLECT
1.  At what times do you think we are most apt to doubt God’s love for us?
2.  Since God spoke the universe into existence, how should this affect how we see Him?
RESPOND
1.  If you have a habit of taking God’s name in vain, stop today.
2.  The next time you receive Communion, remember God is in your mouth
Memory verse Ps.33;8  Let all the earth fear the Lord
» / Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
LESSON THREE
LORD,TEACH US TO PRAY
Conversation is one of the most important components of a relationship. Prayer is the vehicle we use to speak to God and He with us. Since He often speaks in a still, small voice, it is important that we listen carefully. God wants to speak to you. Will you give Him an attentive ear?
READ
1.  When Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them to pray, what was His response? (Luke 11:1–4)
Luca 11:1 “Si pe când Se ruga Iisus într-un loc, când a încetat, unul dintre ucenicii Lui I-a zis : “Doamne, învatã-ne sã ne rugãm, cum a învãtat si Ioan pe ucenicii lui.” / And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
» / And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Luca 11:3 “Pâinea noastrã cea spre fiintã, dã-ne-o nouã în fiecare zi.” / Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
2.  What should we keep in mind when we are making requests of the Lord? (1 John 5:14–15)
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1 Ioan 5:15 “Si dacã stim cã El ne ascultã ceea ce Îi cerem, stim cã dobândim cererile pe care I le-am cerut.” / And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
3.  How often should we pray? (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
1 Tesaloniceni 5:17 “Rugati-vã neîncetat.” / Pray without ceasing.
4.  Which of your activities can be considered a prayer? (Colossians 3:17)
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
5.  What do the Scriptures say are some reasons for unanswered prayer? (James 4:3, Sirach 3:5, Matthew 6: 5–7, 1 John 1:8–10)
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Matei 6:6 “Tu insa, cand te rogi, intrã in cãmara ta si, inchizand usa, roagã-te Tatãlui tãu, Care este în ascuns, si Tatãl tãu, Care vede în ascuns, îti va rãsplãti tie.” / But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

LESSON FOUR
THE FRUIT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
You recognize the value of a tree by the fruit it bears (see Mt. 7:17–19). The fruit of a person’s spiritual life is manifested by his or her actions.
It is the Holy Spirit, working in the person’s life that makes this possible. When we were baptized, we received the Holy Spirit for the first time and our parents claimed us for Christ and the Church. When we receive the sacrament of Confirmation, the sacrament completes the baptismal grace. We then have a greater obligation to spread the faith and defend it against attack (CCC 1285).
READ
1.  Who is the Holy Spirit? (Matthew 28:19)
Matei 28:19 “ Drept aceea, mergând, învãtati toate neamurile, botezându-le în numele Tatãlui si al Fiului si al Sfântului Duh” / Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
2.  What is one of the functions of the Holy Spirit? (John 14:26)
Ioan 14:26 “Dar Mângâietorul, Duhul Sfânt, pe Care-L va trimite Tatãl, în numele Meu, Acela vã va învãta toate si vã va aduce aminte despre toate cele ce v-am spus Eu.” / But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you
3.  Jesus said people would know Christians by their fruit. What did He mean? (Matthew 7:16)
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
4.  Name the fruits of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5:22–23)
Galateni 5:22 “Iar roada Duhului este dragostea, bucuria, pacea, îndelunga-rãbdare, bunãtatea, facerea de bine, credinta,” / But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance:against such there is no law.
5.  Read the parable of the fig tree (Luke 13:6–9). What do you think the story is telling Christians?
Luca 13:6 “ Si le-a spus pilda aceasta : Cineva avea un smochin, sãdit in via sa si a venit sa caute rod in el, dar n-a gasit.” / He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
“ / Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
Luca 13:8 “Iar el, raspunzand, a zis : Doamne, lasa-l si anul acesta, pana ce il voi sapa imprejur si voi pune gunoi” / And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
Luca 13:9 “ Poate va face rod in viitor ; iar de nu, il vei taia.” / And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.

2.  List some good fruits you are displaying at this time.
3.  Is there any bad fruit you think the Lord might want to prune away from your character? Write down one thing you think He might want to change.
RESPOND
1.  Pray this prayer every day:
Holy Spirit, enlighten my mind that I might seek, know, and obey the teachings of the Catholic Church. LESSON FIVE
THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
Wisdom, Understanding, Knowledge, Courage,Judgment, Piety, Fear of the Lord
As members of the Body of Christ, we are given certain gifts that enable us to become fruitful Christians. If someone gave you a gift, wouldn’t you open it immediately? The spiritual gifts we receive from the Holy Spirit must also be unwrapped and used. The following study will help you understand the importance of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and also make you more aware of the need for them in your daily life.
READ
1.  If we lack wisdom, what must we do? (James 1:5)
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

3.  What did King Solomon ask of God? (1 Kings 3:9)
Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

LESSON SIX
JESUS IS BORN—THE FIRST COMING
The miracle of the Incarnation occurred when God took on the flesh of man. It is the most remarkable event to have ever taken place. Our Lady said “yes” to God even through she didn’t fully understand all of the details. Mary and Joseph trusted God with their lives. As you study this lesson, try to think of some ways to make Christmas “real” in your heart.
READ
1.  What are three reasons why Mary would have been confused and even fearful upon hearing the angel’s news that she would be the mother of Jesus? (Luke 1: 29, Matthew 1:18–19, Deuteronomy 22:23–24)
1. Logodna / The engagement (the espousals) ; 2. Închinãciunea Îngerului / The salutation of the Angel ; 3. Castitatea / The chastity
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Matei 1:19 “Iosif, logodnicul ei, drept fiind si nevrand s-o vadeasca, a voit s-o lase in ascuns.” / Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
2.  What was Mary’s response to the angel of the Lord, in spite of her confusion? (Luke 1:38)
Luca 1:38 “Si a zis Maria : Iata roaba Domnului. Fie mie dupa cuvantul tau ! Si ingerul a plecat de la ea. » / And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
3.  What are some details in Scripture that indicate that Joseph and Mary were poor? (Leviticus 12:8, Luke 2:24, Luke 2:7)
And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.
And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
4.  What do the Scriptures say about the act of giving? (Acts 20:35)
Fapte (Acts) 20:35 “Toate vi le-am aratat, caci ostenindu-va astfel, trebuie sa ajutati pe cei slabi si sa va aduceti aminte de cuvintele Domnului Iisus, caci El a zis : Mai fericit este a da decat a lua.” / I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive
5.  What are some ways we can prepare spiritually for Christmas? (1 John 1:9, Matthew 5:42, Colossians 4:2)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
Coloseni 4:2 “Staruiti in rugaciune, priveghind in ea cu multumire.” / Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.
6.  What was the primary purpose for Jesus, who is God, to become man? (John 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 5:9–10)
Ioan 3:16 “Caci Dumnezeu asa a iubit lumea, incat pe Fiul Sau Cel Unul-Nascut L-a dat ca oricine crede in El sa nu piara, ci sa aiba viatã vesnicã.” / For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 Tesaloniceni 5:9 “Cã Dumnezeu nu ne-a randuit spre mânie, ci spre dobandirea mantuirii, prin Domnul nostru Iisus Hristos.” / For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
REFLECT
1.       Why do you think Our Lady was able to say “yes” to God, even though she was afraid
2.       2.  In what ways do you think Christmas has become commercialized? Why is this contrary to the real meaning of Christmas?
3.       3.  What is the greatest gift you could give your family? Health and goodness
4.       RESPOND
5.       1.  Go to Confession during advent.
6.       2.  Help your parents with shopping, cleaning, wrapping presents, or other tasks.
7.       3.  Give a portion of your allowance to the poor
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

LESSON SEVEN JESUS ISCOMING AGAIN—BE READY!
Those who love God should have no fear of the Second Coming. The Church teaches that we do not know when or how Jesus will come again, only that He will. The Scriptures warn us to be prepared. God is merciful and forgiving and wants all people to be saved. It is important to live a holy life, but when we sin, we know that the sacrament of Reconciliation restores our union with God.
READ
1.  When will Jesus come again? (Matthew 24:36–44)
Matei 24:36 “Iar de ziua si de ceasul acela nimeni nu stie, nici îngerii din ceruri, nici Fiul, ci numai Tatãl” / But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Matei 24:38 “Caci precum in zilele acelea dinainte de potop, oamenii mancau si beau, se insurau si se maritau, pana in ziua cand a intrat Noe in corabie,” / For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
Matei 24:39 “Si n-au stiut pana ce a venit potopul si i-a luat pe toti, la fel va fi si venirea Fiului Omului” / And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Matei 24:42 “Privegheati deci, cã nu stiti in care zi vine Domnul vostru.” / Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Matei 24:44 “De aceea si voi fiti gata, cã in ceasul in care nu ganditi Fiul Omului va veni.” / Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
2.  Will we have warnings so we can be ready? (Mark 13:1–37)
And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here!
Marcu 13:2 “Dar Iisus a zis : Vezi aceste mari cladiri ? Nu va ramane piatrã de piatrã care sa nu se risipeasca.” / And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
Marcu 13:3 « Si sezand pe Muntele Maslinilor, in fata templului, Îl întrebau, de o parte, Petru, Iacov, Ioan si cu Andrei :” / And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately.
Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
» / And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
Marcu 13:6 « Caci multi vor veni in numele Meu, zicand cã sunt Eu, si vor amãgi pe multi.” / For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
» / And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.
For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Marcu 13:14 “Iar când veti vedea urâciunea pustiirii, stând unde nu se cuvine – cine citeste sa inteleaga – atunci cei ce vor fi in Iudeea sa fuga in munti,” / But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains:
Marcu 13:15 “Si cel de pe acoperis sa nu se coboare in casã, nici sa intre ca sa-si ia ceva din casa sa,” / And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
Marcu 13:16 “Si cel ce va fi in tarinã sa nu se întoarcã îndãrãt, ca sa-si ia haina.” / And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment.
Marcu 13:17 “Dar vai celor ce vor avea in pantece si celor ce vor alãpta in zilele acelea !” / But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Marcu 13:18 “Rugati-vã, dar, ca sa nu fie fuga voastra iarna.” / And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.
For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.
And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
Marcu 13:22 «Se vor scula hristosi mincinosi si prooroci mincinosi si vor face semne si minuni, ca sa ducã in ratacire, de se poate, pe cei alesi.” / For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

» / But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

» / Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Marcu 13:32 “Iar despre ziua aceea si despre ceasul acela nimeni nu stie, nici ingerii din cer, nici Fiul, ci numai Tatal.” / But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Marcu 13:33 “Luati aminte, privegheati si vã rugati, cã nu stiti cand va fi acea vreme.” / Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.

LESSON EIGHT THE REALITYOF HEAVEN AND HELL
For a young person, it is natural to assume that there is much time to think about eternity. However, no one knows when he will die. Think of being prepared  for a trip. Adults plan for retirement because they know they will one day grow old. The same could be said about death. We know we will one day die. The good news is that we have the opportunity to choose where we will spend eternity.
READ
1.  What are some things the Scriptures tell us about Heaven? (John 14:2–3, Luke 10:20, Luke 16:22–26, 1 Corinthians 2:9)
John / Ioan 14:2 “In casa Tatalui Meu multe locasuri sunt. Iar de nu, v-as fi spus. Mã duc sa va gãtesc loc. » / In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Ioan 14:3 « Si daca Mã voi duce si vã voi gãti loc, iarasi voi veni si vã voi lua la Mine, ca sa fiti si voi unde sunt Eu.” / And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.
Luca 16:22 “Si a murit sãracul si a fost dus de catre ingeri in sanul lui Avraam. A murit si bogatul si a fost inmormantat.” / And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luca 16:23 “Si in iad, ridicandu-si ochii, fiind in chinuri, el a vazut de departe pe Avraam si pe Lazar in sanul lui.” / And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
Luca 16:24 “Si el, strigand, a zis : Parinte Avraame, fie-ti milã de mine si trimite pe Lazãr sa-si ude varful degetului in apã si sa-mi rãcoreascã limba, caci mã chinuiesc in aceastã vãpaie.” / And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
Luca 16:25 “Dar Avraam a zis : Fiule, adu-ti aminte cã ai primit cele bune ale tale in viata ta, si Lazar, asemenea, pe cele rele ; iar acum aici el se mangaie, iar tu te chinuiesti.” / But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
2.  What do the Scriptures say we must do in order to reach Heaven? (Matthew 7:21, Deuteronomy 6:5, John 15:12)
Matei 7:21 “Nu oricine Îmi zice : Doamne, Doamne, va intra in imparatia cerurilor, ci cel ce face voia Tatalui Meu Celui din ceruri.” / Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Ioan 15:12 “Aceasta este porunca Mea : sa va iubiti unul pe altul, precum v-am iubit Eu.” / This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
3.  What does God tell us in His Word about Hell? (Matthew 13:41–42, Mark 9:43–44)
Matei 13:41 “Trimite-va Fiul Omului pe ingerii Sãi, vor culege din imparatia Lui toate smintelile si pe cei ce fac faradelegea, “ / The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
Matei 13:42 “Si-i vor arunca pe ei in cuptorul cu foc ; acolo va fi plangerea si scrasnirea dintilor.” / And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
4.  Read Luke 16:19–31. Why did the rich man go to Hell?
There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
Luca 16:20 “Iar un sarac, anume Lazar, zãcea inaintea portii lui, plin de bube,” / And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
Luca 16:22 “Si a murit sãracul si a fost dus de catre ingeri in sanul lui Avraam. A murit si bogatul si a fost inmormantat.” / And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
Luca 16:27 “Iar el a zis : Rogu-te, dar, parinte, sa-l trimiti in casa tatalui meu, “/ Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luca 16:28 “Caci am cinci frati, sa le spuna lor acestea, ca sa nu vina si ei in acest loc de chin.” / For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
REFLECT
1.  Do you think many people fail to think about where they will spend eternity? Explain your answer.
2.  Many people feel frustrated about trying to live a holy life in our modern world. What are your thoughts on this problem?
3.  “Quo Vadis?” (Where are you going?) Do you have confidence about reaching Heaven? Why or why not?
RESPOND
1.  Make a good examination of conscience and go to confession, and decide to get rid of one bad habit this school year. Do something positive to take the place of the bad habit.
2.  Ask the Holy Spirit to give you a reverence for God’s justice and an understanding of His love and mercy.
3.  Ask God for an opportunity to share your faith with someone who you know may be searching for Him.
Memory verse Matt.7;13-14
Matt. / Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Matei 7:14 “Si stramta este poarta si ingustã este calea care duce la viatã si putini sunt care o aflã.” / Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

LESSON NINE
SATAN ANDSPIRITUAL WARFARE
The Scriptures tell us that Satan is our enemy. We are no match for him, but God is more powerful. Our Lord provides protection for us against Satan’s tactics. The Church teaches that we must avoid the occasions of sin. This means we must be careful not to put ourselves in compromising situations. We must use our will and our Catholic training to make wise decisions in regard to friends, activities, and entertainment.
READ
1.  Is Satan real or imaginary? (John 8:43–44)
Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
2.  Who is our enemy? (1 Peter 5:8)
1 Peter / 1 Petru 5:8 “Fiti treji, privegheati. Potrivnicul vostru, diavolul, umblã, rãcnind ca un leu, cãutând pe cine sã inghitã,” / Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
3.  Is Satan more powerful than God? (1 John 4:1–6) /
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1 John / 1 Ioan 4:2 “In aceasta sa cunoasteti duhul lui Dumnezeu : orice duh care marturiseste cã Iisus a venit in trup, este de la Dumnezeu”. / Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
1 John / 1 Ioan 4:3 “Si orice duh, care nu marturiseste pe Iisus Hristos, nu este de la Dumnezeu, ci este duhul lui antihrist, despre care ati auzit cã vine si acum este chiar in lume”. / And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
1 John / 1 Ioan 4:4 “Voi, copii, sunteti din Dumnezeu si i-ati biruit pe acei prooroci, caci mai mare este Cel ce e in voi, decat cel ce este in lume”. / Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
4.  What are our weapons against Satan? (Ephesians 6:13–18)
Ephesians / Efeseni 6:13 “Pentru aceea, luati toate armele lui Dumnezeu, ca sa puteti sta impotrivã in ziua cea rea, si, toate biruindu-le, sa ramaneti in picioare”. / Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians / Efeseni 6:14 “Stati deci tari, avand mijlocul vostru încins cu adevãrul si imbracandu-vã cu platosa dreptãtii “. / Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
Ephesians / Efeseni 6:15 “Si incãltati picioarele voastre, gata fiind pentru Evanghelia pãcii” / And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians / Efeseni 6:18 “Faceti in toata vremea, in Duhul, tot felul de rugaciuni si de cereri, si intru aceasta priveghind cu toata stãruinta si rugaciunea pentru toti sfintii.” / Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
5.  Why should we guard against activities and/or entertainment that have to do with Satan or the occult? (1 Timothy 4:1 and Deuteronomy 18:10–14)
1 Timothy / 1 Timotei 4:1 “Dar Duhul graieste lamurit cã, in vremurile cele de apoi, unii se vor depãrta de la credintã, luand aminte la duhurile cele inselatoare si la invataturile demonilor”. / Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Deuteronomy / Deuteronomul 18:13 « Iar tu fii fara prihanã inaintea Domnului Dumnezeului tãu ; « / Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God.
For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do.
6.  What are we to allow into our minds? (Philippians 4:8 and Psalm 101:3)
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Psalm ( Chapter ) 101:3 / Psalmul 100:4 “N-am pus inaintea ochilor mei lucru nelegiuit ; pe calcatorii de lege i-am urât”. / I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.
REFLECT
1.  Think about your entertainment. Do you think you may be compromising your morals?
2.  Do you think Satan is influencing people today and that he is having an effect on society? Why or why not?
3.  Do you think most young people are aware that Satan wants to influence their thinking? Explain.
RESPOND
1.  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you where Satan may be influencing your thinking in regard to truthfulness, purity of mind, obedience, kindness, etc.
2.  Receive the Eucharist often, pray regularly, and go to Confession often. These are great protections against the devil.
3.  Pray this prayer every day:
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.Amen.
Memory verse 1 Peter 5;8
1 Peter / 1 Petru 5:8 “Fiti treji, privegheati. Potrivnicul vostru, diavolul, umblã, rãcnind ca un leu, cãutând pe cine sã inghitã,” / Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

LESSON TEN HOW GOD DEFINES LOVE
Genuine love is sacrificial. In other words, if we are concerned about the feelings and needs of the one we love, we would never ask him to do something that would cause him harm. God loves mankind perfectly. When we put God first and love as He loves, we become capable of loving more perfectly.

4.  How can we prove our love for Jesus? (John 14:15)
5.  What should be our attitude toward those we love? (Philippians 2:3–4)
REFLECT
1.  Give an example of how a person can “love” unselfishly.
2.  Describe a situation when getting your own way took priority over what was best for someone else.
3.  How would you define “tough love?”
RESPOND
1.  This week, go out of your way to do kindnesses for those around you.
2.  Remember to never ask another person to compromise his or her values.
3.  Write a note or give a small gift to someone to express your love for them
Memory verse John 15;13

LESSON ELEVEN GOD'S GIFTOF SEXUALITY
God created man in His image. He knows what is best for us and also what is harmful. God created sex for marriage because when two people experience this beautiful gift from God, they become one flesh. When people misuse God’s gift of sexuality, they not only sin against God and themselves but also against the other person.
