We want kids
to know Christ. We are sponsoring now every Saturday a kids club for the local
kids who live in a place we call the "yama", which in Russian means
hole. It is truly a hole that unfortunately many children fall victim to. Often children battle poor living conditions as
well as parents who struggle with alcoholism. So the sisters and Fr. Mike
decided we would begin a day camp on Saturday where the kids could come to the
church, eat a nice lunch and just hang out and play.
Brother Patrick from Philippines came to Magadan to make
an eight (8) day directed retreat. He is a member of the Canons regularly from
Bladivostok. He made his retreat with Fr. Michael and will make his final vows
March 19th, the feast of St. Joseph .
We celebrated Maclanitza or as they say in the west,
Marti Gras, on Sunday March 2nd. We also had forgiveness Sunday that same day
where the parish forgives each other as a preparation for the Lenten call of
repentance. We hope everyone had a holy and blessed Ash Wednesday!
Fr. Michael visits Andre who is a son of one of the
parishioners. He brings communion to Andre in his home as he is now blind and
can hardly walk. Please pray for Andre and his family.
We are so thankful for the gift of life- we are reminded
everyday of our gift of life from our children- oh how they make us smile!
Mission to Magadan
Dear friends of the Mission
to Magadan.
We want to let you know you are our gift and your
generosity gives us the gift of serving this church being reborn in faith. Your
petitions are prayed on our altar. Here we see part of our small and holy
praying family. We hold your petitions, your families and your needs in our
hands and in our hearts. Thank you from all our hearts here to your heart
there.

I am going to Rome
to give a retreat to some of the Sisters of Mother Theresa at the end of May. I
wrote a letter to the Popes secretary to see if I could celebrate Mass with the
Holy Father before the retreat. TODAY I GOT AN ANSWER...YES MAY 22ND AT 7AM. I am so thankful and so blessed and so
amazed. I love this holy and broken church of ours. We are an amazing bunch of
pilgrims. I will bring you all with me to the altar.

We at OLF were profoundly blest when Fr.
Michael visited us last summer:
